I want to incorporate some "barefoot" running too once I know my foot is better. I've heard great things about it helping to strengthen seldom used foot muscles. but you have to start out REALLY slow. Maybe even do some walking for a few weeks first. I have the Nike Free Trail and plan to do some really short runs in those. Maybe work my way into the Vibrams slowly...
this summer i ran barefeet on the sand for about 4.25 miles, and it felt great. i've never tried the 5 fingers, but once you do, let me know how you like it :)
